Waxy’s little sister is another pub that I found off of my Instagram reels when searching for unique places in London. This one has one of the more exciting things I’ve seen in a pub.
It is situated in, or right next to the Chinatown area, so still in Soho? Maybe? I am not too familiar with exact neighborhoods but if not then it’s a block away.
The front and outside of the pub is nothing super exiting, just a normal store/restaurant front along the street, and it is quite easy to miss. But there are those Guinness ads on the window, which is like my version of a bat signal, so there was no missing this. It is also right across from an O’Neill’s, which would be a common place for someone to go for a Guinness. That being said, I would one million times advise going here if you are in the area. Not a huge fan of large chains and you can find an O'Neill’s just about all over England.
As for the main event. If you do end up at this place, make sure to skip the downstairs pub area and go straight up to the second floor seating and standing area. Not that there is anything wrong with the downstairs, it is still quite nice. The upstairs has a DUMBWAITER. You write your order on a little slip and send it down, then up comes the payment machine, you tap your card, send it down, then up comes your drink or drinks. It’s great. I also don’t care if there is anybody out there claiming its gimmicky because I had lots of fun with it, and its better than stuttering to the girl taking my order at the bar.
This is definitely a place I would take people when visiting London, just for a bit of fun and something different.
Here is my order:
